"Daily Chalk" - Not Sleeping...
Wake up!!! Not really.
We have all had this experience one way or another. We are talking to somebody who is supposedly paying attention. However, their eyes are closed and they are breathing slowly. Hmm. Don't worry...
They are just thinking. Right?

"Daily Chalk" - It's The Little Things.
A friend sent this to me.
"It's the little things."
Isn't that the truth. You just get up to speed and it seems like all might be working out well...and then something really small totally messes with your life. Whether it is a kiddo who is having a hard night or a flat tire on the way to work: life has its thumb-tacks. I guess it is good for character building, but it sure would be nice to have smooth sailing for a little while.

"Daily Chalk' - Happy Summer!
This winter was long and this summer is short! But Hot! :) I guess it feels the need to make up for lost time. Our family is really enjoying the heat wave. Since we live in North Idaho Summer doesn't usually get here until late June. These last couple of weeks our kiddos have been able to enjoy the 8'(across, not deep) pool and a new slip and slide. We have gone bike riding and a little hiking as well. I hope that you find some time to enjoy yourself this summer. Maybe you could even try to rediscover how to make a real glass of lemonade.(a lost art in our instant society) All that to say, happy summer from ChalkShirts!

"Auntie's Notes" July 2012
After the exciting news that Auntie's wanted to sell our shirts in their store I was wonderfully surprised that by a phone call from Lois Hughes, the events coordinator at Aunties Bookstore. She wanted to interview us for their July Newsletter! It was a fun interview and she was a pleasure to talk with. Even more surprising was the fact that they put us on the front page. Auntie's Bookstore
It is official!
Rush Delivery delivered our first order to Auntie's Bookstore yesterday afternoon. The manager said that the shirts should be on the floor this morning! If you live in Spokane and have kiddos, take a look at their website. There are events for kids often and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

"Daily Chalk" - ChalkShirts In The Inlander
I know this is a little late but I just came across this yesterday. Apparently last December ChalkShirts was written about in an article on what to buy a "Spoiled Brat" for Christmas. Ha! At least we know that ChalkShirts are good for something. The shirt in this photo was one of our first models. We now have the new "Splattered Paint" chalkboard. It is much more stylish and is now available in our ChalkShirts Store or at Figpickels Toy Emporium on Sherman Ave. in CDA.

"Daily Chalk" - Memorial Day
Memorial Day
It's memorial day. I am so thankful for all of those were willing to sacrifice their lives for our freedom. I had a grandpa who stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-day. Fortunately he was not one of the incredible number of casualties during World War II. There were however, thousands of soldiers who did die in that battle and so many other battles. I am thankful for the sacrifices they made and also the sacrifices their families made. Freedom has not been cheap. Thank you so much.

The "Daily Chalk" - OLD?
Old?
I had a very interesting conversation with two of my sons the other day. They were listening to a tape of me "talking" with my dad back in 1979. (I was a year old.) The date was mentioned at the beginning of the tape, "1979."
Son #1, very surprised, asks, "you were alive back then?"
I answer in the affirmative, "Yes I was,"
Son #1 in shock exclaims, "Wow, you were alive way back in the old days."
Son #2 chimes in with, "that was way back when Jesus was on earth."
Son #1 replies, "no, that was back in Bible times." "Wow dad, you are old!"
Son #2 finishes up in agreement, "yeah!"

My perspective: I am still the same person I was when I was 6 or 8. "Old"
is ever changing and always beyond reach. A form of
"Kick-the-Can" I suppose.

Happy Mother's Day - A day late. :-)
Happy Mother's Day to all of you mothers out there. You are a wonderful blessing to all of us. I can truthfully say that none of us would be where we are without you. :-) I hope that you had a good day and that all of your little or big blessings(children) blessed you.
By the way, I did remember to call my mom yesterday.
Have a great week everybody. We are preparing to enjoy the sun that has finally arrived up here in the Northwest. It looks like we may have spring after all.

The "Daily Chalk"
Ever been in a situation where you had an opinion but nobody asked for it? You were left voiceless.
How about this. I was in Leavenworth listening to a Bavarian band yodel up a storm. They were great! I wasn't able to wait around till they were done to let them know how I felt, so I wrote it to them.
"Yodeling Rocks!" Big smiles and a chuckle from the Base player. Fun was had by all.
